Community Mapping
What’s the city got? What and where are all the services? What
is needed?
The Community Mapping Project is hoping to find out more about the city’s makeup
and the social services that operate in Christchurch. The aim is
to get a good over all picture of the community, spot trends and
use the information to identify gaps and help with planning.
The
hope is that this will lead to the best possible match of local
needs and resources, whether they are being provided by government
departments or local community organisations. Social resources are
scarce and it’s up to all of us to make sure every dollar is making
a positive contribution to our community well-being.
The Community
Mapping Project is a collaboration between Child, Youth and Family,
Christchurch City Council, Department of Internal Affairs, He
Oranga Pounamu, and representatives of various government departments
through Strengthening Families Management Group, and community
agencies
through Safer Community Council and Healthy Christchurch
Community Mapping project brief and timetable.
